Her Majesty the Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.
To celebrate The Queen’s historic 70 years as our Monarch, St. Nicholas Hurst Parish Council, sponsored by Stanlake Park Wine Estate will be organising many events over the extended bank holiday from Thursday 2nd June to Sunday 5th June 2022.
Thursday 2nd June – Jubilee Beacon
To commence the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, we will be gathering in the community orchard from 8 pm. We will have an 80-piece rock choir, church bells, handbell ringing of the National Anthem, a piper playing “Diu Regnare” and St Nicholas Singers performing “A life lived with grace.”
The beacon will be lit by Lucy Zeal, Deputy Lieutenant of Berkshire at 9.45 pm. The beacon is being specially made for the village by Haines Hill Estate.
An outside bar and food will be available. You are all encouraged to arrive early, limited parking is available, but you are encouraged to walk if possible. Marshals will be clearly visible if you need any help.
Friday 3rd June – Jubilee Sports Day
The village will be encouraged to take part in numerous sporting events being organised throughout the day. Football, cricket, bowling and tennis.
Saturday 4th June – Jubilee Family Festival
We will hold a sizeable free outdoor event that will take place on the green at Martineau Lane.
This will include games, a picnic, cream tea & scones, a licenced bar and BBQ. Hurst Air Scouts will be running a human hungry hippo game, we will also have bouncy castles, tug-o-war, an Aunt Sally game and a rocking gladiator duel. St Nicholas primary school will have pupils performing on the stage. From 3 pm we will begin the jubilee concert, you can enjoy performances of multiple music acts.
Sunday 5th June – Street Party
A church service will start the day at 11.00 am, followed by a large village jubilee street party from 1pm. A village sing-along to “Hurst Favourite Things” is also planned for you to all join in. Our sponsor Stanlake Park Wine Estate will be offering a free wine tour for residents On Sunday 5th June at 5.30 pm, after the street party. Tickets can be obtained from the wine stall Natalia and staff will be running on Saturday 4th June at the music concert.

A village treasure hunt will be run over the 4 days, everyone is invited to take part in this at their leisure.
